Starting dance classes in Riverview

If you are searching for dance classes in Riverview, FL, chances are your child has been dancing around the living room and you are ready to find the real thing. A great first season builds confidence, coordination and friendships — and sets up years of dancing.

Dance Quest International is at 853 Lithia Pinecrest Rd in Brandon, serving Riverview, Brandon, Valrico and FishHawk families. Here is what a first season with us looks like, month by month.

Before the first class: choosing the right class

Start with age. Dancers ages 2–6 usually begin in a Combo class, which pairs two styles in one class. Older beginners can choose a single style or two. If you are unsure, our Find My Class quiz recommends options in about a minute, and our guide on what age kids should start dance covers readiness in more detail.

August–September: learning the routine

The 2026–27 studio season began August 10, 2026. Early weeks are about learning how class works: where to stand, how to listen, how to warm up, and the first steps of each style.

Dancers wear the class dress code from day one. Ballet leotard colors are set by level, and solid black works for most non-ballet classes. Our dress code guide lists exactly what to buy, and the DQI Store carries it.

October–December: confidence builds

By fall, most new dancers know their teacher, their classmates and the shape of class. You will notice them practicing at home. The studio is closed for Thanksgiving week (November 23–28) and Christmas break (December 21–January 3).

January–May: preparing to perform

After the new year, classes start learning choreography for the year-end Showcase. This is often when dancers fall in love with the art form — they see how weeks of technique turn into a real dance. Spring break is March 22–27, and the last week of studio classes is May 22–28, 2027.

June: the Showcase

The season ends with the Dance Quest Showcase on June 3–5, 2027. For many first-year dancers it is their first time on a real stage, and it is a moment families remember.

How you will stay in the loop

Dance Quest families receive class updates in their inbox after class — what was practiced and what is coming next — so you can encourage your dancer at home. The full season is on our calendar.

What a first season costs

One weekly studio class is $80 per month, spread over 10 payments, plus a $35 annual registration fee per dancer ($65 per family). Costumes and Showcase fees are separate. See the Tuition page and our cost guide for the full picture.

Dance styles to explore

Combo classes (ages 2–6) pair two styles in one structured class — Ballet/Tap, Ballet/Jazz or Acro/Jazz — plus Tutu 2’s & 3’s for the littlest movers.

Ballet builds posture, alignment, strength and the vocabulary every other style draws on. Jazz adds energy and performance quality. Tap builds rhythm and timing. Acro develops strength, flexibility and controlled tricks.

Older dancers can add Hip Hop (6+), Contemporary (6+), Musical Theatre (9+) and Pointe for qualified ballet students. Harmony is our class for dancers of all abilities, ages 6 and up, on Fridays at 6:30 PM. See every style on the Programs page.

DANCE QUEST INTERNATIONAL

A first dance season is less about perfect steps and more about a child discovering they can learn something hard — and love it.
